Flat Bottom Pour Over

Brewing with a Flat Bottom Pour Over exhibits the cleanliness of coffees while introducing a steady, bold cup. If you’re thinking nostalgic but sweet, this method is for you!

What You’ll Need

Grinder

Flat Bottom Filters

Tresco Server

Tresco Brewer

Hot Filtered Water

Timer

Mug

Scale

Step by Step

  1.  Grind your coffee a medium grind size.

  2. Weigh out approximately 15-25 grams.

  3. Wet the filter before adding coffee to remove any papery taste.

  4. Brewing coffee is a 15:1 ratio. Before adding the coffee to the filter, multiple the amount of grams of coffee you used by 15. For example, if you weighed out 20 grams of coffee, multiplying that by 15 would amount to 300. This is the amount of water you will be using in brewing for a flat bottom pour over (g=ml.)

  5. Add the coffee and tare the scale.

  6. Bloom the coffee by wetting all of the grounds without submerging. Wait until coffee stops bubbling or about 15 to 30 seconds. (do we need to add anything about degassing? Can we put that on the FAQ page of the brew guide?)

  7. After the bloom, starting in the middle of the filter, pour in a circular motion working outwards. Evenly wet the coffee grinds.

  8. Pour in increments of 50 grams.

  9. Continuously add water without drowning the filter or letting the filter run empty (avoid pouring down the side or in one spot.)

  10. Takes about 3-4 minutes to brew and voila!
